The Ottawa County Court of Common Pleas was created by the Ohio Constitution of 1851, and it handles civil litigation, criminal cases, domestic relations, and juvenile and probate cases. The Prosecutor's involvement is limited to crimes and offenses. As a part of that involvement, the Prosecutor conducts Grand Juries to investigate and indict offenders.
