South Bass Island Findings and Orders

The Put-in-Bay Township Trustees are inviting all interested property owners on South Bass Island to attend a public meeting on September 25, 2009 between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. at the Put-in-Bay Village Hall.  The public meeting will be conducted by the Ottawa County Board of Commissioners, along with the Ottawa County Board of Health, regarding a proposed connection ban on household sewage disposal systems on South Bass Island and ban on commercial systems designed to discharge to groundwater.   As proposed, the connection ban will be issued by the Director of the Ohio EPA through Finding and Orders that will regulate or limit the issuance of new or replacement sewage disposal system permits on South Bass Island. Draft copies of the proposed Findings and Orders will be made available during the public meeting.  In addition, a draft copy of the proposed Findings and Orders can be found on the Ottawa County website (www.co.ottawa.oh.us)  Click on South Bass Island Findings and Orders) and can be review in person at the Put-in-Bay Library. You may ask questions about, and provide comments on, the proposed restrictions during the public meeting. Representatives of the County, Ohio EPA and the Township will be present to answer questions during the public meeting. In addition, you may submit written comments up and until the date of the public meeting.  Written comments need to be submitted to the Ottawa County Commissioners, 315 Madison Street, Port Clinton, Ohio 43452.

The Final Findings and Order can be view by clicking here.
