Cribs

 CRIBS FOR KIDS

Helping every baby sleep safer! Every year, some infants die while sleeping. Parents can reduce the risks of this tragedy by knowing and following some simple guidelines:

  1. The baby's crib should be in the parents' room, if possible. The crib should have a firm mattress that is closely fitted to the sides of the crib, and a tight fitting sheet.
  2. Never let a baby fall asleep in a bed, chair, or on a couch with another person.
  3. When breastfeeding, make sure you are in a position that will allow you to stay awake.

The Ottawa County Health Department has cribs available for participants who are currently pregnant or have a child one (1) year or younger. In order to qualify, parents will need to attend an informational visit, receive their free crib, and take part in one (1) follow up call. For additional information, please contact your WIC provider or contact the Health Department at 419-734-6800.
